West Kilmundy is a lovely rural property situated between Aberdour and Burntisland, set in an elevated position with far reaching panoramic views stretching from the Forth Bridge in the west, to Bass Rock in the east, taking in Edinburgh and surrounds. The nearby town of Burntisland offers a good range of local amenities and facilities with a wider offering on hand a few miles to the east in Kirkcaldy and a few miles to the west in Dunfermline. The nearby quaint village of Aberdour offers a number of individual shops and cafes. Edinburgh is about a 21 miles drive to the south.
Attractively positioned on the northern banks of the Forth the area offers ready access to the beautiful rolling countryside of Fife with a lovely mix of farmland, coastline, hill and river, the result being a fine choice for the outdoor enthusiast with walking, cycling, riding, sailing and of course golf all readily available. The area is also home to an array of wildlife with the wide open spaces of the Lomond Hills offering considerable scope for recreational pursuits; access to the Fife Coastal Path is also close by.
There are many highly regarded golf courses in the county including Ladybank, Lundin Links, Leven and Elie along with the many fine courses in and around St. Andrews with the renowned Old Course regularly hosting the British Open. Locally, good golf courses are available at Burntisland, Aberdour, Kinghorn and Kirkcaldy. In terms of days out there are lovely sandy beaches nearby at Aberdour and Burntisland, with Leven, Elie, St. Andrews and Tentsmuir a little further afield. The pretty fishing villages of Fifes quaint East Neuk which include Anstruther, Pittenweem and Crail are about forty five minutes drive to the east. There are a number of popular National Trust for Scotland properties in the area including Falkland Palace, Hill of Tarvit and Kellie Castle. Historic Scotlands Aberdour Castle is also close by.
State schooling is available locally with independent schooling being provided at a number of highly rated Edinburgh schools as well as Dollar, St. Leonards in St. Andrews and several schools in the Perth area. There are local railway stations at Burntisland and Aberdour, with mainline trains available from Inverkeithing and Kirkcaldy. Park and Ride facilities are close by at Halbeath and Ferrytoll, and Edinburgh Airport is easily accessible to the south.
West Kilmundy originally comprised two semi-detached cottages which have been joined together and significantly extended in more recent years to create a lovely rural home enjoying breath-taking views out over the Firth of Forth and surrounding countryside. The house is situated on the left hand side after about 200 m. It is not possible to access the house from the A921.Note: if using Sat Nav access to the property is via the A909 only.
