The Old Post Office is an exquisite property quietly positioned in the popular small village of Collessie which sits on the northern edge of Fife’s fertile agricultural plain known as the Howe of Fife. Collessie has a delightful quaint feel with many interesting old buildings and plenty of open space including two children’s play areas. Local services and amenities are on hand in the villages of Letham, Ladybank and Auchtermuchty with a wider offering in the bustling local county market town of Cupar where there is a very good range of supermarkets, shops, restaurants, hotels and the like as well as a thriving monthly farmers’ market. Going further afield, accessibility to the cities from Collessie is excellent with Edinburgh, Perth and Dundee all within comfortable driving distance. The main motorway network is easily accessed via the M90 at Bridge of Earn or Kinross/Milnathort with the centre of Edinburgh about 45 minutes by road, Glasgow about one hour and twenty minutes and both Perth and Dundee only twenty-five minutes away. There are railway stations in Cupar, Ladybank, Leuchars and Markinch with Edinburgh’s international airport also well within commuting distance. The historic and ancient town of St. Andrews with its renowned golf courses and famous university is some fifteen miles to the east.

The outstanding countryside that surrounds Collessie is home to an array of wildlife and for the outdoor enthusiast offers ready access to a wide range of recreational pursuits including cycling, riding, walking and golf with many highly regarded courses within easy reach including Ladybank, Scotscraig, Lundin Links, Elie and the many fine courses in and around St. Andrews where the Old Course regularly hosts the British Open. The next scheduled visit is 2015. Shooting and fishing may be taken locally and there are some fine pheasant shoots nearby. In terms of days out there are walks at the nearby Birnie Loch Nature Reserve and there are several popular National Trust for Scotland properties in the area including Kellie Castle, Hill of Tarvit and Falkland Palace. There are lovely sandy beaches at St. Andrews, Elie and Tentsmuir with the pretty East Neuk fishing villages such as Pittenweem, Anstruther and St. Monans on hand for day trips. The wide open spaces of the Lomond Hills are close at hand and the nearby village of Letham is home to the acclaimed Secret Garden outdoor children’s nursery and also the local primary school. State secondary schooling is available at Bell Baxter in Cupar with independent schooling being provided at a number of highly rated schools in the area including Dundee High, St. Leonards in St. Andrews and several schools in the Perth area.
