Balcary Bay Hotel is situated just 2 miles down the Shore Road from the village, and provides first class dining and accommodation in a stunning location. There are beaches and lovely walks in and around the village, and also along the two mile single track road from Auchencairn to Balcary Bay, with coastal views and stunning cliff walks.

Small areas of lawn adjoin the house with beds of flowering shrubs and perennials and a path of cockle shells leads off into a woodland garden with wonderful beds of roses, flowering shrubs and perennials including azaleas, rhododendrons, and honeysuckle. The path leads onto the shore at various points, and he gardens and woodland walks extend to c.450m along the shore. There is a slip way located between Nutwood House and Nutwood Cottage.

Nutwood Cottage has a carport which could be used for vehicles or storage of garden equipment. The kitchen/living space opens out onto a surfaced seating area looking directly out onto the shore, with the same stunning views as the house.

NOTE
Nutwood was formerly the gasworks for Auchencairn House. Investigations into possible contamination have been carried out, and whilst there is no risk of contamination breaching the fabric of the house, there is evidence of contamination to the garden immediately outside the kitchen. The owner has assessed what remedial works need completed. Please contact the selling agent for further information.
There is evidence of slight structural movement to the southeast corner of the house. It has been investigated by structural engineers, and the evidence suggests this is due to a lack of formal foundations to the extension. However it has been concluded that there is no structural safety risk and the movement is decades old. Suggestions for remedial works have been made. Further details are available from the selling agent.
