Broomlands House is an outstanding and unique Edwardian mansion, a considerable asset to the town. It represents one of the finest granite houses in the South West of Scotland as it was built by the former owner of the Dalbeattie quarry in 1903. A picture of Broomlands House is displayed in Dalbeattie Museum due to its unique qualities. Dalbeattie granite has been used for building notable landmarks around the world including the Thames Embankment in London, the great docks of Liverpool, Greenock, and Belfast, and buildings in North America. The beauty of Dalbeattie granite is contained in thousands of tiny quartz crystals which sparkle in the sun.
One of the most famous sons of the sea, Captain William McMaster Murdoch RNR, the hero of the Titanic was born in Dalbeattie. There is a memorial plaque to him at the Town Hall and the houses where he and members of his family once lived.

Broomlands enjoys a distinctive setting in the town and offers space, and tranquillity situated in 3.5 acres of woodland grounds and gardens. The interior was refurbished in 1987 to a high quality standard, and has been continuously well maintained by the present owner. It contains many original Edwardian features. All of the bedroom accommodation is spacious, and luxurious in size.

Broomlands offers a "once in a lifetime" opportunity to purchase one of the most significant and distinctive houses in Dalbeattie. The house offers a variety of prospective alternatives, such as exclusive guest house bed and breakfast, (which was previously successfully run by the current owner), possible division into two residential properties, (there are already separate gas and electricity meters), with in addition a large bungalow cottage to the rear. Planning permission has existed previously for the construction of two 3-bedroom houses adjacent to the main road at the front of Broomlands. Potential for development remains subject to application of the necessary consents. Further development potential also exists to the side and rear of Broomlands, with the possibility to construct adjoining houses to the neighbouring developments. The property could alternatively be retained as a unique family home with generous space for construction of tennis court or swimming pool.
