The Schoolhouse, Darnconner, is in a secluded and private location by Auchinleck, East Ayrshire. It is situated about 3 miles from Auchinleck, which has a good range of local facilities which include superstore, hotel, butchers and bakers. The cottage was once the former Schoolhouse built for the headmaster, alongside the church for the village of Darnconner. Darnconner, developed as a farming and coal mining village in the early nineteenth century. By the second world war, the village of Darnconner was uninhabited, and the final miner’s row was demolished around 1940. The cottage has pleasant high ceilings in the public rooms with attractive coving and cornicing. From the front door, there is a lovely entrance hall with arched ceiling which leads to the living room which is bright and airy with fireplace with tiled hearth, the spacious sitting room with fireplace has 2 alcoves, and dado rail. There are two bedrooms (one with fitted cupboards), a study, bathroom with bath, w.c., sink and half height tiles.
