The small town has a good range of local facilities which include supermarket, hotel, butchers and bakers. There is a railway station with connections to Glasgow, Kilmarnock and Ayr. The new Barony Campus in Cumnock (about 3 miles) opened in 2020 incorporates both primary and secondary schooling. Turn right after about 1 mile, then proceed along this road for about 0.5 miles and Glenshamrock Farm is on the right hand side.
