Scapa Cottage is ideally situated in an established residential area on the fringes of Beith in North Ayrshire. The small town of Beith in the Garnock Valley is a delightful place with local cafes and an eclectic range of shops. It is well located for easy access to Glasgow City Centre (about 22 miles). Local services and facilities are available in both Beith and Dalry (3.5 miles), with the new improved Dalry Bypass now open. Glengarnock (1.5 miles) has park and ride facilities at the railway station with regular services to Glasgow and beyond. There is also a regular Express Bus service through Beith that reaches the centre of Glasgow (Central Station) in 20 minutes. Glasgow Airport has regular scheduled flights and is 13 miles distant. There is primary schooling in Beith and at the newly build Garnock Community Campus which has a leisure suite and swimming pool. Ayrshire is renowned for its many golf courses and there are local courses at Beith and Kilbirnie. There are excellent yachting facilities at the marinas at Adrossan, Largs, Inverkip and Troon. There are many opportunities for game sports in the region with some of Scotland’s best salmon and trout fishing available in the area’s lochs and rivers.


DESCRIPTION
Scapa Cottage is a charming and characterful cottage with a most unusual sandstone façade. It’s unique appearance and history is even mentioned in Wikipedia. All on one level, the original cottage is built of sandstone with attractive ‘etchings’ under a slate roof whilst the extension has a tiled roof. It is entered via a small porch into the hall which retains some original exposed stone and oak flooring. The living room also with oak flooring is a generous size with bay window and electric fire set on a stone hearth with the same markings as the exterior. The kitchen has a good range of cream base and wall mounted units, gas hob with extractor, oven, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. There is a delightful garden room with tiled flooring and French doors to the patio. The bathroom has a shower over the bath with screen, wash hand basin and w.c. There are two good sized bedrooms with ample storage.
