The village of Dundonald has a primary school and local shops including butchers and hairdressers. The popular village of Symington (about 2 miles) also has good primary schooling, a new Co-op store and the popular village pub/restaurant, The Wheatsheaf Inn. On the edge of Dundonald village, lies Dundonald Castle which is situated on a 100ft high mound overlooking the village. The castle can be traced back to the accession of Robert II to the Scottish throne in 1371. This was his favourite home and he died here in 1390. The land is situated approximately 3 miles from Troon, with an excellent range of amenities including schools for all ages, a variety of sporting facilities and a fine range of restaurants, cafes and shops. There are a number of golf courses around Troon including Royal Troon and a yacht marina. Glasgow and Ayr are within easy reach by the newly improved A77 and M77, and Prestwick Airport is about 6 miles away with a full range of regular international flights. There is a railway station in Troon providing a half hourly service to Glasgow and beyond.

There is a mains water trough in Lot 2 whilst there is access to the burn in the wooded glen in Lot 1. The land rises from about 40m to 80m above sea level and is Class 3(2) in the James Hutton Institute Land Capability Classification.
