East Heads Steading occupies a superb elevated setting with commanding views over the Irvine Valley. Situated just outside the East Ayrshire village of Newmilns which has a good range of local shops and primary schooling whilst secondary schooling is available in near-by Galston (Loudon Academy). Galston has a golf course and the historical Loudon Castle as well as local shops and a supermarket. The towns of Kilmarnock (8 miles) and Ayr (19 miles) offer a wide range of amenities including cinemas, hospitals, an excellent range of shops and professional services. Glasgow Prestwick Airport is about 15 miles distant, whilst Glasgow International Airport is about 30 miles. There are good road links to Glasgow via the A/M77 and the railway station in Kilmarnock has regular commuter connections to Glasgow and beyond.
There are some scenic walks in the area including Loudon Hill at Galston and the beautiful Lanfine Estate has some delightful woodland walks and pathways, with many exotic trees and conifers. Muirmill and Morris Equestrian Centres are both close by an offer a superb range of facilities and competition events for all levels. There are plenty of quiet country roads and pathways from the property for hacking.
