The Barony Centre, set within a restored church is home to a craft exhibition centre, gallery shop and café. There is a lovely sandy beach at West Kilbride and Seamill Hydro is about 3 miles distant. Largs (6.5 miles) is another popular west coast town where there are more extensive shopping facilities and a supermarket. The Ayrshire coastline is renowned for its range of outdoor activities including golf courses which include Royal Troon, Prestwick, Turnberry and Largs. The original Carlung House was destroyed by fire in 1902 being replaced with the magnificent Elizabethan Manorial house present today.
