Beechknowe Farm is an attractive small farm situated in open unspoilt countryside just to the south west of Ochiltree. The farm is in a ring fenced block and easily accessed from the B7046 whilst it is in close proximity to the A70 which leads to the A77 and A76.

Beechknowe is well placed for easy access to Cumnock (about 6.5 miles) and Ayr (about 11 miles) whilst Glasgow (40 miles) can be reached within an hour’s drive. There are excellent transport links in the area with regular bus connections and a railway station in Auchinleck (7 miles) with frequent connections to Ayr, Kilmarnock, Glasgow and beyond. Glasgow and Prestwick Airports have regular scheduled and international flights and are 17 miles and 42 miles respectively. There is schooling available at Ochiltree, Coylton, Cumnock and Auchinleck. Cumnock offers a variety of local shops and sporting facilities. Nearby places of interest include Dumfries House, a Palladian country house set in a 2,000 acre estate with beautiful walled gardens recently opened by HRH Queen Elizabeth and a frequent favourite of Prince Charles. At Auchinleck Estate there are enjoyable riverside walks to Wallace’s Cave and Peden’s Cave and the River Ayr gorge walk at Mauchline is close by. Auchinleck Mansion House, was built by Lord Auchinleck, James Boswell in the late 1700s. The Scottish classic-style mansion was designed by Robert Adam, one of Scotland’s most famous architects. There is a popular coffee shop and gift shop (Boswell’s Coach House) within the Estate grounds. Loch Side House and Spa is also close by and has a well respected reputation for high quality service.

Ayrshire is renowned for its range of outdoor pursuits. There are a number of world renowned golf courses including Royal Troon, Turnberry and Rowallan Castle Estate, Kilmaurs, which also has excellent equestrian facilities with an international indoor arena. The racecourse at Ayr provides regular fixtures. Excellent yachting facilities are available at the marinas in Ardrossan, Troon, Largs and Inverkip. LOT 2: BARLOSH MOSS SSSI

Lot 2 extends to about 58.22 acres (23.56 ha) of which 49.57 acres (20.06 ha) forms part of the Barlosh Moss Site of Special Interest which was designated in June 1985. It comprises an assortment of relatively undisturbed wetland habitats and woodland and in particular is designated for its Hydromorphological Mire Range and Raised Bog vegetation features. There is also a grazing field of 3.50 Ha (8.65 Ac) outwith the SSSI. The SSSI is managed in conjunction with Scottish Natural Heritage and whilst grazing by sheep and cattle is permitted, consent is limited to a maximum of 16 cows and 40 sheep. There is an annual management grant paid by the Scottish Natural Heritage of about £2,250. The land is split into two enclosures, serviced by two water troughs and bound by post and wire fencing with a right of access at two points across the public road.

DIRECTIONS
From the Holmston Roundabout at the A77 Ayr Bypass, take the A70 signed for Dumfries. Proceed through Coylton and then before the railway bridge take a right signposted for Drongan. Continue through Drongan and take a left signposted for Sinclairston. At the cross roads take a left onto the B7046, continue on the road for a 1.5 miles then take a left signposted for Barlosh, and Beechknowe is the first property on the left.
