Nearby Carluke is largely a commuting town given its ease of access to the motorway links to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Thornhome has an interesting history with the owner of Carluke’s biggest employer, R&W Scott the chocolate and jam manufacturers having lived in Thornhome House in the early 20th century.
