Westfield occupies a sheltered, secluded position outside the village of Turnberry with views towards the Firth of Clyde and Ailsa Craig. The property once formed part of Ladybank Estate and would have originally been a dwelling house for an estate worker but has been thoroughly renovated and extended over recent years.
The coastal town of Girvan is just 4 miles away and was originally a popular fishing port. Its harbour, built within the mouth of the Water of Girvan, offers one of the few safe havens along the coastline, and remains active to this day. The opening of the railway in the late 1850s saw the development of Girvan as a seaside resort. The town has a good range of local shops, supermarkets, recreational and professional services and has a local primary and secondary school. There is also a recently constructed medical centre. Trump Turnberry Golf and Spa Resort is just 3 miles away and the main town of Ayr is about half an hours drive to the north. The coastline around Westfield is dominated by the granite island of Ailsa Craig and the beautiful Culzean Castle is about 7 miles away.
Westfield is a traditional detached property with well proportioned accommodation on one level. The property was built in the late 1800s and extended in the 1950s and again by the present owners in 2008. The property is entered though the conservatory which is a lovely bright room overlooking the terrace and towards the Firth of Clyde and the hills of Arran. There are two double bedrooms both with adjacent bath or shower rooms. The living room is within the original property and has a log burning stove and windows set into the thick walls. The dining kitchen is open plan to the living room and is fitted with a range of modern wall and base units with integrated appliances including an over, hob, washing machine, fridge and freezer.
The gardens of Westfield are easily maintained. Fully enclosed and entered via an electric gate with security lighting, there is a good sized gravelled parking area. A paved terrace is bounded by well stocked flowerbeds and in addition there are some fruit trees. The greenhouse is supplied with light and power and there is also a storage container which is also supplied with light and power.
