Glasgow can be reached in about an hours drive via the A/M77, and there are regular commuter trains from Ayr. Glasgow Prestwick Airport is about 10 miles away, with frequent international flights. The village of Coylton, close at hand, provides excellent local facilities and has a good primary school and useful range of shops and services and a medical surgery.

There are many golf courses including the world famous courses at Turnberry and Royal Troon which hosted the Open Championship in 2016. Roodlea Golf Centre (3 miles) has a 12 hole course and driving range. The popular racecourse in Ayr holds the Scottish Grand National and there are yachting marinas at Troon, Largs and Inverkip.
