Hillend of Heateth is situated in a secluded and private location but within a short distance of Auchinleck. The former mining town has a good range of local facilities which include supermarket, hotel, butchers and bakers. There is a railway station with connections to Ayr and beyond. There are currently two primary schools and a secondary in the town and the new Barony Campus is due to open within the next year providing nursery, primary, secondary and supported learning education.
