Riverview is a lovely detached bungalow situated in a private tranquil location in the picturesquevillage of Sorn. Sorn, has a popular primary school, post office and shop and a well regarded local Inn (The Sorn Inn). Secondary schooling is available in Galston (13 miles) and Auchinleck (8 miles) with a private school at Wellington, Ayr. Mauchline, about 8 miles, has a range of local amenities for daily needs including shops, bank, schooling and a medical practice. Sorn is a 30 minute drive from Ayr (21 miles) where there is an excellent range of shops and restaurants, sports facilities and cinema. Glasgow is within easy commuting reach by the recently improved M77 (39 miles). Junction 12 of the M74 with rapid access to the south, is 18 miles distant. There are mainline railway stations in Kilmarnock and Auchinleck providing access to Glasgow and beyond whilst Glasgow Prestwick Airport can be reached in about a thirty minute drive and offers a comprehensive schedule of international flights.

The River Ayr Way long distance walking route passes close by and also close by is the popular Cairn Table walk (593 metres) southeast of Muirkirk which is topped by a large cairn. This cairn was built in 1920 as a memorial to local men and women who served in the Great War.
There are many opportunities for game sports in the area and Ayrshire has some of South West Scotlands best salmon and trout fishing.
