Ellon Castle is a beautiful category B listed Mansion House set within secluded private grounds of approx. 3.5 acres. As one would expect, this home is accessed through the listed gate piers and up the tree lined drive way and dates back to the 1700’s; at one time was owned by Sir James Reid, the private physician to Queen Victoria. Over the years the property has undergone extensive & sympathetic renovation to retain the traditional charm and original period character, yet introducing the contemporary modern features expected of a family home. Standing within the grounds is the Coach House, which has proven to be ideal as staff accommodation or for those looking for additional space to work from home or accommodate additional family members.
Bound by parks, mature woodland and rolling lawns, the setting and grounds of Ellon Castle offer a high degree of privacy and space.

Upon entering the home you enter the front hall which has two large windows and a beautiful period marble floor. This area leads you through to the hall area and in turn the sitting room. The sitting room is a very spacious and comfortable room with south facing large windows and the original oak fireplace with cast iron ‘Hunter’ wood burning stove, also serving the study. Leading through from the sitting room you will find a traditional cloak room and a charming study room which has French doors leading outside to the terraced garden. This room is also serviced by the ‘Hunter’ wood burning stove.
The truly impressive dining room and drawing room are combined within an expansive L shaped room enjoying a west facing outlook to the front of the property. The dining area has a door to the butler pantry and the drawing room area has a beautiful large original stone fireplace with open fire and a stunning bay window with seating. The family dining kitchen is a superb space and has been fitted with high quality units and black granite work tops. The central island is a great working area and there is plenty of space for a large family dining table and chairs. The Aga is set within the original sandstone wide arched fireplace and there are two large windows overlooking the garden terrace. From the kitchen you directly access the wine cellar located within the circular tower and with stone shelves and flag stone flooring.

Entering from the rear of the house there is a vestibule, rear hall and an enormous boot room with shelving and coat hanging area. Finally on the ground floor you will also find a utility room with exposed floor boards, large window and space for various appliances.
