Northern Property Market On The Move

Forecasts as to when we might see a recovery in the economy and the property market have ranged from early to 2010 to some point in 2014. However, it might appear that the outlook isn't quite as bleak as expected writes Rod Christie. It is fair to say that there has been notable decrease in value across the whole property sector since the peak of 2007 and certainly transaction numbers are down, however, are we now beginning to see a glimmer of sunshine between the dark brooding clouds? After a very slow start to the year, the market across the north and north-east is beginning to warm up with purchasers returning to the market. Many transactions are now occurring within weeks of properties being placed on the market and we have been successful in achieving a number of significant sales in recent months. The improved conditions are generally reserved for traditional properties in good locations whilst marginal areas, new build houses and conversions remain harder to sell. Access to finance is still perhaps the greatest impediment to a full market recovery however the right property in the right location, where sensibly priced and well marketed will have every chance of achieving a successful sale.
