Galbraith Launches Residential Agency Service For Northern England

Galbraith has established its residential agency service for Northern England, with the appointment of experienced surveyors Sam Gibson and Heather Hardy, based in the firm’s Hexham office.

Sam, who joins Galbraith as Head of Residential Agency in the area, was born and raised in Northumberland and is a chartered surveyor with over 20 years of experience across the UK including in London, Edinburgh and for the past ten years in the North of England.

Heather Hardy who is also from the region, has worked with Sam previously in residential sales for a national property firm and also has over 20 years of experience in property.

In addition to Sam and Heather, Megan Parker is also joining the residential agency team. Megan has been working in the Hexham office for two years in the estate management team.

Sam Gibson said:

We are offering a coast-to-coast service across the whole of the North based on our detailed knowledge of the region – the three of us are each from a slightly different area, so we complement one another very well.  We have buyers registered with us already and have received our first instruction to sell a residential property.

Through the Summer the North of England saw a really active property market with high demand primarily from people based within the region, along with some people relocating from the South.

The beauty of the natural environment combined with attractive traditional market towns makes this a wonderful place to live. Period property is particularly sought-after in the Tyne Valley, heading west from Newcastle towards Cumbria. The coastal strip around Warkworth and Bamburgh is always in high demand for properties to be used either as a main residence or a holiday home.

The first property being marketed by the team in Hexham is Coal Houses, a four-bedroom cottage in a lovely situation on the outskirts of Netherwitton, near Morpeth. The property is ideal for equestrian purposes or for use as a smallholding, with about 3.4 acres of land, mainly permanent pasture. The property also has a pretty garden and a large outbuilding, suitable for a number of uses.

Simon Brown, Head of Agency and a Partner with Galbraith, said:

We are delighted that we have attracted such a high calibre team to launch our residential agency service in the North of England. Sam, Heather and Megan will cover the region from our Hexham and Penrith offices and link with our teams based in Edinburgh, Galashiels and Kelso. Our agency activities will be supported further by Tom Jenks who will source and sell property for clients across the breadth of the Borders and Northern England. We have created a formidable team to provide an excellent service.
