CKD Galbraith Welcomes Calls For Legislation In Scottish Residential Lettings Sector
CKD Galbraith welcomes the debate regarding 'cowboy lettings agents' and the subsequent calls for legislation to be introduced by the Scottish Government.
The firm currently operates six regional lettings teams from its 12 offices throughout Scotland and is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) and the National Approved Letting Scheme (NALS).
In addition, CKD Galbraith holds a SafeAgent accreditation which guarantees that tenants' and landlords' money is protected by a client money protection scheme.
Bob Cherry, partner and head of lettings at CKD Galbraith, said: “It is imperative that all agents operating in the sector are fully accredited in order to alleviate the unscrupulous practices being carried out by many. Being accountable to a professional body provides security for your clients, both landlords and tenants, and allows for a fair and open market place.
“Our accreditation with regulatory bodies also allows us to fully understand new laws being introduced and in turn ensures landlords and their properties comply with the latest legislation.
“We believe the rental market will remain extremely healthy throughout 2013 as demand continues to outstripping supply in most regional areas, particularly affordable family properties.”
