We are delighted to invite you to Balcarres International Horse Trials official launch day on Thursday May 17 at Balcarres Estate, Colinsburgh, Fife.
The official launch of this exciting new international three day event will be kindly hosted by Lady Balniel, of Balcarres Estate, and will give you a chance to come and meet some key members of the team, see the Estate and the cross country course in the parklands. In addition we are thrilled to be welcoming special guest four times Olympic Silver Medallist, Mr Ian Stark MBE.
Alongside Ian there will also be the chance to speak to Event Organiser James Oakden, Event Host, Lady Balniel and BE Regional Coordinator Frances Hay Smith.
Following a short presentation and a Q&A session we will be delighted to welcome you to the Estate parklands where there will be the opportunity to photograph Wills Oakden, member of the GB Gold medal winning team at the Young Rider European Championships and one of Scotland's top event riders, Louisa Milne Home. In addition there will be the opportunity to see some of the work in progress on the cross country course, before returning inside for refreshments.
Balcarres House will welcome you from 12noon with the official launch commencing at 12.30pm.

Balcarres International Horse Trials is home to the newest most exciting three day Event in Scotland. 2012 will see both our inaugural equestrian sporting and social Event take place from 14th 17th June 2012. Set to host both world class Eventing and a wide variety of non equestrian attractions, Balcarres International Horse Trials is the perfect destination for all of the family. With a shopping village, displays, arena attractions and entertainment there really is something for everyone. Ian Stark OBE Four times Olympic Silver Medalist, Former European Champion and winner of Badminton Horse Trials on two occasions. Ian, who lives in the Scottish Borders was awarded an MBE for his services to equestrianism in 1989 after his Olympic successes in Seoul, but in 2001 he was honoured again, this time with an OBE. Ian is now a hughly sought after BE course designers and coach.
James Oakden - James brings a wealth of experience to bear in his role as Organiser of the Balcarres Horse Trials. International event rider James has previously competed at Badminton Horse Trials and is still a regular on the competition circuit but now spends more time organising events and training competitors. In 2006 James became Organiser of the well known Central Scotland Horse Trials, a move which has led to the development of his role at Balcarres International Horse Trials. James lives locally near Newburgh, Fife.
Frances Hay Smith Is British Eventing's Regional Director for Scotland and the North. Based in Newburgh, Fife on her family farm, Frances has a history steeped in eventing, enjoying success as a rider at both Badminton and Burghley Horse Trials in the 1990's.
Frances is currently on the selection committee for the Derby House Pony Squad, Junior Squad and Jump Savings Young Rider Squad.
