Calum is responsible for the Galbraith’s Energy Department which serves a diverse range of clients from major plc utility companies to private individuals looking to benefit from renewable energy incentives. He is a recognised expert on sporting rates.
Calum is principally based in our Perth office and in addition to attending to energy matters he heads up the Commercial Property Department within this office. The department provides a range of agency, consultancy and professional services to private clients across the various commercial property sectors.
In addition, Calum and various specialists within his team provide planning consultancy services seeking to add value to existing land assets through the planning process. Increasingly in recent years the firm’s planning skills have been directed towards the energy sector in terms of obtaining planning permission for small and mid scale renewable projects across a variety of technologies as well as the core residential development market.
As a keen angler Calum has managed to combine his knowledge of salmon fishing and valuation to a point where he is an acknowledged expert in the niche subject of valuing fishing rights. This has led to a number of interesting professional instructions to act on behalf of bodies such as the River Tweed Commissioners and various Salmon Fishery Boards, being employed as an expert witness in court proceedings together with being consulted by the Scottish Government to assist in the formulation of policy relating to fisheries.
Calum has held a number of outside appointments including external examiner for the University of Aberdeen, faculty chairman of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in Scotland and member of International Governing Council of RICS. He presently is a member of RICS UK Education Standards Board and sits on the Renewable Heat Working Group of Scottish Renewables as well as being a Trustee for the Tay Foundation.
