Reroofing of Agricultural Building
Galbraith were instructed by their client to assist them in undertaking Landlord repairs on a tenanted farm cattle shed in the Scottish Borders.
The asbestos cement roof and cladding sheets were in poor condition and were at risk of becoming unsafe to remove and replace safely. It was decided before the condition worsened that new finishes would be fitted. Galbraith set about specifying the new roof, ensuring appropriate measures would be put in place for the handling of asbestos as well as improving the daylighting provision for the tenant.
The contract was then let to a local contractor with Galbraith providing contract administration services which included overseeing the works on site and providing a line of communication between the contractor, landlord and tenant.
The works took three weeks to complete on site and were finished on time and on budget. Our involvement helped maintain the landlord and tenant relation, whilst providing the client with assurance that the work was being carried out in accordance with the relevant legislation, to a good standard and at a competitive price.
