Valuation and sale of an abandoned oil workers village
We were instructed by French Duncan to undertake a valuation of Pollphail Village, an abandoned former oil workers’ village, extending to 25 acres, which had lain unoccupied for 35 years in Argyll and Bute on the west coast of Scotland.
We provided marketing advice and a detailed marketing strategy, which focused on editorial in light of the history surrounding the village. The marketing campaign we implemented attracted national and international media attention.
The sale went to a closing date with three offers received and we monitored the sale through to completion.
The site was bought by forestry firm Portavadie Forestry Limited who have plans to breathe new life into the site by demolishing the dilapidated accommodation and investing in landscaping for a mixed development, including micro distillery or brewery with visitor centre and residential development.
